|| Introduction and History

  The department of Japanese Language and Literature (DJLL) was derived from Japanese division supported by Center for General Education. In coping with the expending in high frequency international exchanges, collaborations among higher education, and multiple developments in terms of premium institutes of higher leaning, nourishing Japanese language specialists in the 21 centenary became an important agenda for the university. The proposal of founding the department to the Ministry of Education (MOE) was brought up after the approval of university assembly in 1997. However, due to the limitation in terms of space in the campus and the restriction of total amount control policy from MOE, a sub-department was found and recruited one Japanese language class in 2002. With the great achievements of the course and the demand in pursue of internationalizations in the contemporary society, various firms of all kinds are eager for Japanese language specialists. The motion encouraged the further development to the department. One more class was therefore recruited in 2003. From the year on, the sub-department transformed and became an official faculty in the university.
